It’s easy to be jaded about the presidency of the United States at the moment.  It certainly is not currently an office of moral authority or great leadership with the current office holder.  Fortunately, we have a day each year to remember what greatness looks like.  Were George Washington and Abraham Lincoln flawed?  Of course they were.  We all are, but I think it is important to take in the totality of their contributions.  Both of these presidents leave a legacy that is a net positive, and positive in amazing ways.  While the national holiday is designated only for George Washington, it is fitting that we commonly also remember the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln who is widely considered the greatest president we have had.
